| At Drumba we believe that we are rhythmic beings whose quality of life - physical, psychological, spiritual and social - can be greatly enhanced through the use of rhythm as a means of creative expression. Our aim is to provide opportunities for people to experience the powerful effects of drums and rhythm and to share in the benefits of this ancient, global tradition. |
| Bevil is a full-time drum maker, drum circle facilitator and hand drumming teacher, based in Cape Town, South Africa, whose mission it is to spread the joy and healing power of traditional hand drumming to as many people as possible. He has performed regularly with his students at the Art of Living Festival, has been featured in Odyssey magazine, as well as the alternative lifestyle magazine programme Free Spirit and been interviewed on SAFM's Women Today. He was also one of the organisers of the Festival of the Healing Drums held at the V&A Waterfront in December 2002, and hosts drumming events like the Summer Drum Club. When he is not facilitating group drum circles for corporate functions and team building events, he travels around to schools and hospitals, where he works with learners, patients and staff, using drumming and rhythm as a tool educate and heal. His work has also expanded into exploring the use of drumming as a means of creative expression. He has collaborated with the Frank Joubert Art Center and the National Gallery on a number of projects in this area. He also runs regular drumming classes and teaches drum making. |
